Women’s Health

CARE THAT CONSIDERS THE WHOLE PICTURE

__________

Womens health is rarely about one symptom in isolation. Hormones, the menstrual cycle, nervous system, sleep, digestion, stress and different stages of life can all influence how we feel My approach begins by understanding your individual story - what you’re experiencing, what has changed, and what may be contributing to the symptoms you’re navigating.

Acupuncture can be used alongside conventional medical care to support women through many different stages of life, from the first menstrual cycles through fertility and pregnancy to perimenopause and menopause.

Explore the areas I work with:

Menstrual Health

Your menstrual cycle can provide valuable information about your overall health, but when something isn’t right, the impact can extend far beyond your period itself.

I work with women experiencing painful periods, heavy or irregular bleeding, PMS, cycle changes, absent periods, PMOS (formally PCOS), endometriosis and adenomyosis, as well as those who simply feel that something about their cycle isn't optimal.

Living with menstrual health concerns can affect every area of your life including work, relationships, exercise, social plans, sex, sleep, energy and how you feel in your body. When symptoms have been present for a long time, it can be frustrating to feel that you're simply expected to manage them and carry on.

Your treatment begins by taking those experiences seriously and looking beyond the symptom itself. We'll explore your cycle in detail alongside your wider health, including sleep, stress, digestion, energy and any investigations or diagnoses you may already have.

Acupuncture can be used as part of a broader approach to menstrual health, with treatment tailored to your symptoms, your cycle and the way they are affecting your life.

Fertility

Trying to conceive can quickly become a world of tracking, testing, appointments and uncertainty. It can also feel surprisingly isolating - suddenly there is new terminology to understand, medical information to process and decisions to make, often while navigating the emotional weight of the journey.

I offer acupuncture and individualised support for women trying to conceive naturally or undergoing assisted fertility treatment, including IVF. Your appointments provide dedicated time to talk through where you are, what is happening in your cycle or treatment, and how you are feeling along the way.

Treatment is shaped around your individual fertility journey. We’ll consider your menstrual cycle, known diagnoses, previous investigations or treatment, sleep, stress and general health, alongside any medical fertility care you are receiving.

If you are undergoing IVF, acupuncture can be scheduled around the different stages of your treatment and used alongside the care provided by your fertility clinic. While fertility treatment can sometimes feel highly medicalised and protocol-driven, your acupuncture appointments remain centred on you - providing continuity, personalised care and a supportive space throughout the process.

Perimenopause

Perimenopause can begin years before your final menstrual period and can affect far more than your cycle.

Changes may include irregular or heavier periods, anxiety, mood changes, headaches, brain fog, fatigue, disrupted sleep and changes in sexual wellbeing.

What can make this stage particularly difficult is the way these changes can filter into almost every area of life. Changes in mood or anxiety can affect relationships and family life. Brain fog can impact confidence at work. Poor sleep can affect energy and concentration.Fatigue can make exercise and socialising feel harder, while changes in your body or sexual wellbeing can affect how you feel about yourself.

For some women, there is also a period of simply not understanding why they feel so different. Things that previously felt easy or manageable may suddenly require more effort which can be unsettling.

Your treatment begins by looking at the whole picture - what has changed, how your symptoms are affecting your everyday life, and what matters most to you.

Acupuncture can be used alongside lifestyle support, HRT and conventional medical care where appropriate, with treatment tailored to you, your symptoms and the areas of your life being most affected.

Your treatment starts with you.
